Governor Ige has said he intends to increase Hawaiʻi’s food-production capacity. However, sprawling housing developments like Hoʻopili continue to put this goal further out of reach.

In 2016, the governor committed to working with the community to revitalize the urban neighborhood based on a vision for a “21st century Kalihi.”

The nonprofit says that the proposed program fails to live up to lawmakers’ vision for dramatically expanding access to clean energy in Hawaiʻi.
